About Artist
Greg Mallyon is a painter and printmaker who works from his studio in rural Australia. His abstract topographical images are inspired by an aerial perspective of the landscape below ,Greg holds a Masters degree in Art ( majoring in painting ) UNSW ,a Diploma in Fine Art ,QCA ( majoring in printmaking ) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Art Education Q.U.T. Greg has held over 40 solo exhibitions throughout Australian capital cities and also in Provence ,Singapore , Zagreb and Honolulu . He has participated in over 70 group exhibitions in locations including Rome ,Barcelona ,Venice ,Taipei , Hong Kong and Singapore
Artist Statement
This artwork explores the local landscape where I live in Daylesford Victoria . This ridge is in clay country which is pockmarked by the industrial denudation of the area caused by the gold rushes . This activity created hillocks , gullies ,open mine shafts , artificial waterways and destruction of the countryside , the effects of which can still be seen today .
