Artist Statement

This painting reflects a change of direction in the way I am interpreting the landscape. I am wanting to shift away from representation of the “particular” to introducing a less specific notion of landscape- a “universal”, perhaps an imaginary place. Still a somewhere that one might retreat to, that one might fall into, that one might remember. But it will become a “wherever” for the viewer that is unique yet somehow shared.
