About Artist

Tika Robinson grew up on a cattle and truffle farm in rural NSW. She attended UNSW Art and Design completing a Fine Arts degree with Honours. She is currently exploring ceramic fungus sculptural works with an ink element. Exploring the effect that different clay, glaze and inks create in the works.
Tika explores the contrast that can be created and discovered with diametrically opposing ideas. Through her work she studies ideas such as life and death, and decay and growth. Exploring the decay to regenerative process that fungi produce. Tika looks at the contrast of humans and nature delving into the depths of the natural ecosystems. She studies the ecosystems of mycelia networks that connect multiple organisms and fungi underground. These networks highlight the connection and distribution of the world’s regeneration.

Artist Statement

Fungus is the fruiting body of the Mycelia network that connects the surrounding organisms. This figurative representation of the connection between humans and the natural ecosystems of fungi is highlighting the need to include all living organisms in our networks of understanding. Fostering connection and harmony with nature.
