About Artist
Karena (Kaz) Dalla Rosa (b. 1962, AU) is a visual artist based on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Painting from an early age, she commenced a Fine Arts degree at Caulfield Institute before leaving to embark on a career as a musician. Karena has performed consistently in Melbourne and around Australia until recently returning to her first love of painting.
By way of mixed disciplines, she explores local places and landscapes of cultural and environmental significance.
Artist Statement
My work aims to capture the integrity of the traditional lands on which we live. This study of an Angophora, while primarily found in coastal NSW, was photographed and painted on Wadawurrung country on the Bellarine Peninsula. Wherever the flora or landscape, I try to portray it in all its messy glory and natural chaos which, for me, evokes the spirit of this country.
