Lake Mungo 6.03am embodies a metaphor for a life-cycle. The half-toned blues and reds build up the sensation of experiencing early morning mist that fleetingly coats - or shimmers across - the features of the landscape.
For a few minutes only, one witnesses a particular enigmatic and vaporous blue hue that reveals itself at Lake Mungo at early dawn.

The pursuit of capturing the quintessential feeling of a subject is and always will be a lifelong goal of my art. I endeavour to reveal the infinite nuances and details of a landscape . Reaching beyond what is simply seen to something more essential. All possibilities are left open in my work and I do not intend to give you the answers. I suggest instead.
The recycled strips of shredded classified documents are my current signature medium. Like the land, it is the infinite details that those strips can produce that come together to form a cohesive picture. Scrutinising my paintings up close reveals this same phenomenon. It is the endless details and twists that make them monumental works of art. Hidden messages, moments of intrigue and secrets are packed into every avenue of the surface. Every square centimetre of a the canvas is meticulously surveyed, considered and realised.
The careful compositions of those fragile strips causes the perception of the subject matter to be deliberately and continually questioned.
My work compels the viewer to also take responsibility as one meets with possibilities of the landscape in one's own mind. Are we looking at a small space, or a huge one? Quite commonly, both readings are possible.
As a result, the landscape breathes and pulsates. So does both the maker and the viewer of the pictures. All belong to the same source.
