About Artist

Wiyabu (hello), my name is Amy Green. As a contemporary artist descending from Worimi (Warrimay)/Biripi (Birrbay) Country, belonging to the Gathang language group, and having grown up on Gringai (Guringay) Country, my work embodies a connection to my cultural heritage the land and my journey so far. I draw inspiration from my life experiences, stories and landscapes infusing them with a modern perspective. Creating my artwork involves a meticulous and emotionally invested process that unfolds over time sharing a story that reflects a part of myself. Through my art, I aim to celebrate, express a part of my creative thoughts and preserve the richness of my heritage and culture while contributing positively to ongoing dialogues in community and the contemporary art world.

Artist Statement

At the foothills of the Barrington Tops is the township of Dungog and the surrounding villages. A place traditionally cared for by the Gringai (Guringay) mob. The mountains (balgarr), trees (wati), rivers (bila), valleys, significant sites, flora and fauna form the Barray (country) that I call home.
