The Sustainability Prize category is based on the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which is a plan of action for people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnerships. Any medium is accepted.

- Online entries opened: Friday, 1 March 2024, 6am AEST
- Entries closed: Monday, 15 July 2024, midnight AEST
- Finalists publicly announced by: Thursday, 1 August 2024
- Online voting for People’s Choice opens: Thursday, 1 August 2024
- Online voting for People’s Choice closes: Sunday, 15 September 2024, 11.55pm AEST
- Official opening and award night: Thursday 26 September 2024
- Exhibition open to the public: Friday 27 September 2024
- Exhibition closes: 13 October 2024
The Prize has been established to support and showcase Australian artists and celebrate their skill and diversity.
Prize Categories
- Open Prize valued at $20,000
- First Nations Prize for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists valued at $20,000
- Sustainability Prize valued at $8,000
Open and First Nations entries must be paintings. Sustainability entries can be any medium.
There is also the People’s Choice Award valued at $1,000. All finalists are automatically entered in the People’s Choice Award.
